Video editing
Cut the dead time, keep the story
Trim a clip or remove a middle section, with a quick check for clean cuts and audio continuity.
Mark the useful moment
Watch the recording once before selecting a range. Note where the action begins and ends, then leave a small amount of context on either side. An abrupt first word can feel like a mistake even when the picture is correct.
If you need only one excerpt, select the section to keep. If the beginning and end are useful but the middle is not, select the unwanted section and use remove mode.
Build the edit in ClipShrink
The video cutter provides a timeline for selecting a range. Keep and remove are different operations, so check the selected mode before exporting.
- Load the video and preview the area you want to change.
- Set the start and end points on the timeline.
- Choose whether to keep that range or remove it.
- Preview the result and use a fade only when it helps the transition.
- Export in a format your destination accepts.
Check continuity
Play several seconds on each side of the cut. Listen for a clipped syllable, an unexplained jump, or a sudden change in background sound. Repositioning the cut is often more effective than adding a transition.
- Check lip sync after the join.
- Make sure the opening frame is intentional.
- Replay the last second; do not leave a fragment of the next scene.
Understand the quality trade-off
Some editing workflows can copy encoded streams without re-encoding, but exact cut behavior depends on the media and tool. ClipShrink’s cutter exports newly encoded video, including when fades are applied.
Keep your source file for future edits. Repeatedly cutting the previous export can add unnecessary generations of compression.
A downloadable format may not be previewable in every browser. Open the exported file in a compatible player before calling it finished.
